Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how the Games from Türkiye website (the "Site") uses cookies and similar technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy, the KVKK Aydınlatma Metni, and the GDPR Notice. The data controller is Türkiye Oyun Geliştiricileri Derneği ("TOGED"); the Site is operated by Seti Medya İletişim Ltd. Şti. as a data processor on TOGED's behalf.

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit it. We also use comparable technologies — such as localStorage entries and similar browser-storage mechanisms — to keep the Site functional. In this Policy we use the word "cookie" to mean both true HTTP cookies and any equivalent storage mechanism we set in your browser.

2. The categories of cookies we use

We classify cookies into two categories: strictly necessary and analytics.

Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Site to work. They are set on every visit and cannot be disabled through our consent banner. Their lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing the Site you requested (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) and an exemption from the prior-consent requirement under the e-Privacy framework and the corresponding KVKK guidance for cookies that are strictly necessary for the service explicitly requested by the user. The strictly-necessary set covers:

• a session cookie that keeps you signed in to the studio-owner edit area while your session is active;
• a locale preference cookie that remembers whether you are browsing the Site in English or Turkish;
• a theme preference cookie that remembers your light- or dark-mode choice;
• a consent-state cookie that records the choices you made on our cookie banner so we can honour them on later visits;
• short-lived security tokens (for example, anti-CSRF tokens used when you submit a form) that protect you and the Site from common web attacks.

These cookies do not track you across other websites and are not used for advertising or profiling.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Site so we can improve it. Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland), which acts as an independent controller for Google's own purposes and as a processor for the analytics measurement we configure.

Google Analytics may set cookies such as _ga, _ga_<container-id>, and _gid. These cookies collect information including a randomly generated client identifier, the pages you view, the approximate location derived from your IP address (with IP anonymisation enabled), and basic device and browser information.

Analytics cookies are set only after you give your explicit prior consent through our cookie banner. The lawful basis is your consent under GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and KVKK Art. 5(1).

Some Google Analytics processing may take place outside Türkiye and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers are protected by the Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the European Commission, supplementary technical and organisational measures, and Google's own data-transfer safeguards.

3. Third-party services and embedded content

The Site may embed content from third parties (for example, social-media posts on the Events page or maps on the Studios page). When you load a page that contains embedded third-party content, that third party may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We try to load such content only after you give consent, or to use privacy-enhanced embeds where available, but we cannot fully control how every third party behaves once their content is loaded.

We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising, retargeting, or selling profiles to third parties.

4. Managing your cookie choices

When you visit the Site for the first time, our cookie banner asks you to accept or reject analytics cookies. Strictly-necessary cookies do not require consent and are not affected by your choice.

You can change your choice at any time:

• by reopening the cookie preferences from the link in the Site footer;
• by withdrawing consent through the same control — withdrawal takes effect immediately and applies to future processing;
• by deleting cookies in your browser settings, after which you will be asked again on your next visit;
• by configuring your browser to block cookies in general (note that blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent parts of the Site from working).

You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all websites that use it by installing Google's official browser add-on; details are available on Google's own help pages.

5. Retention

The retention period of each cookie depends on the cookie itself. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies — including locale, theme, consent-state, and Google Analytics cookies — are kept for the duration set when the cookie is created. The longest persistent cookie we set has a lifetime of two (2) years; analytics cookie lifetimes are configured in line with the corresponding Google Analytics property.

The personal data linked to analytics cookies is retained for the data-retention period configured in the relevant Google Analytics property. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be kept longer.

6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy when the cookies we set change or when applicable law changes. Each version is identified by the version number and effective date displayed at the top of this page. Material changes to the cookies we set will be reflected in a fresh consent prompt on your next visit, and previously granted consent will be re-requested.
